In alignment with the theme of 'Our Home' during Universities Refugee Week 2024, the University of Greenwich is dedicated to building an inclusive and supportive community.
Refugee students face challenges upon their arrival in the UK, particularly in London. This is due to higher living costs and tuition hurdles due to asylum-seeker status.
To directly address these challenges, we are seeking to raise funds for 8 bursaries of £250, providing vital support for refugee students' living expenses. Last year, the alumni community's generosity funded five bursaries of £250. In addition to this, the university reinforces its commitment by awarding two Sanctuary Scholarships annually.
Education stands as a powerful catalyst for change, and we remain committed to ensure that every student, regardless of background, experiences their full potential. Your contribution not only impacts the lives of refugee students but also helps build a culture of empathy, nurturing a more just society at Greenwich and beyond.

This campaign opened on 1 March 2024 as part of the Universities Refugee Week.
Our Student Engagement Team has developed a full programme of activities under the theme ‘Our Home’. Alumni are welcome to come along to one of the events and to share with your community the campaign and events to raise awareness and support. Thanks again for your generous contribution.
